How to fix Blender 3D User Preferences Crash? Blender User Preferences Black Screen

AFTER FINDING UNANSWERED REQUESTS FOR HELP WITH GETTING AROUND/FIXING THIS ISSUE IN MULTIPLE FORUMS INCLUDING BLENDER 3D FORUM, WE DECIDED TO CREATE THIS POST

Blender 3D - User Preferences

If you are reading Blender Tutorials which used Pre-Blender 3D 2.5 version, you must have come across suggestions for tweaking the Blender UI through the User Preferences. The Pre-Blender 3D 2.5 versions had User Preferences hidden above the Top Menu Bar, you'd have to drag the Menu Bar down to modify the User Preferences
Pre-Blender 3D 2.5 versions -- Uer Preferences

This Method however, does not apply for Blender 3D version 2.5 and above, if you drag the Menu Bar in Blender 3D version 2.5 or above, you'll find a Console there:

Blender 3D -- Console

So, if you're using Blender 3D 2.5 or above, Click File > User Preferences to open the User Preferences window.
Blender 3D 2.5 or above -- User Preferences

Fixing the Blender User Preferences Blank Screen Crash

If you're getting a Black Screen and a crash:

update your Video Device Driver.

If updating your Device Driver does not help: Click the Editor Type button and choose User Preferences:

The User Preferences window should show up without a Blank Screen or a crash.

Blender 3D User Preferences

After you've changed the settings, click Save Settings button at the bottom.
